Title:  Project Manager

Department: Creative 

Reports to: Head of Creative

Location: New York, NY

Status:  Contractor

 

Summary of Position

The Project Manager of Creative Services will work to streamline processes and functions within the Creative Department to ensure quality of work, budgets, and deadlines are met while minimizing exposure and risk in each project.

 

Project Management • 50% of role

  • Maintain production/execution schedule of all department deliverables
  • Manage all vendor resources and contractors regarding design and budget needs
  • Client interaction upon request for project execution / prototype or design installation
  • Creative input and knowledgeable on design direction to assist the Creative Team when required

 

Production Management and Sourcing • 50% of role

  • Source a variety of project elements (fixtures, furniture, props, etc.) within project budgets
  • Assist Senior Manager and Lead Designer in maintaining production/execution schedule and estimates
  • Communicate all potential issues with timelines and budgets in order to assist in problem solving and alternative action
  • Strategic, resourceful and proactive in a reactive environment
  • Communicate effectively with field team and 3rd party contractors
  • Communicate effectively with internal department team
  • Extend personal touch to field team to gain loyalty
  • Maintain and source the vendor resource library

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create timelines, workflow, due-dates and deliverables for projects across marketing, retail, and environmental design
  • Take design concept elements and work with company resources to find cost effective solutions and options
  • Coordinate and schedule all parties involved in the project, which includes the contractors, sub-contractors, vendor suppliers and shippers
  • Ensure that products are produced on time, to standard, track delivery, and meet budget guidelines.
  • Monitor and track production processes and communicate schedule changes as needed
  • Conduct site visits as needed to ensure progress and give on-site direction
  • Visit suppliers as needed to ensure quality control and timing
  • Strong sense of organization and initiative
  • Strong sense of urgency and ambition to have an impact on the business
  • Ability to determine new skill needs and to take initiative to rapidly develop skills
  • Strong digital document creation skills with layout experience using InDesign to properly facilitate creative decks
  • Ability and experience in understanding design trends for the purpose of communicating and confirming creative direction within assigned projects
  • Capability to rapidly absorb information and train yourself
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget
  • Experience coordinating multiple teams/resources both internal and external

  • Proficient in Creative Suite 5+ or Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat)

Job Requirements

Experience Requirements

  • BA – Marketing, General Business
  • 5-7 years in a leadership role at retail or wholesale, preferably in a creative/design environment
  • High level client Interaction
  • Experience with construction detailing a plus
  • Experience with process, design and management capabilities
  • Experience with Budget Management, Retail Math and Business Analysis
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exemplary, proven relationships at retail a plus (department and specialty stores)
